Kimora Lee Simmons “How To Make It In Fashion”

04/22/2010 Fashion, Stories of the day No Comments

On April 20th 2010, Ms. Kimora Lee Simmons, taught a workshop on “How to Make It in Fashion.”  Held at the esteemed Hilton Hotel on Avenue of the Americas in the Murray Hill Room with an every seat taken audience.  This wonderful opportunity coordinated  by the “The Learning Annex” was a great way for fashion guru’s to a get a glimpse of Ms. Fabulosity herself and some key tips for sustaining longevity in the industry.

Kimora, rocked her very own Baby Phat black strappy stilettos, fitted washed black jeans, a white tank, and a blazer with the Michael Jackson shoulders and began the lecture with a discussion on her childhood in St. Louis; and then hitting the runways of Paris as Karl Lagerfeld’s muse for Chanel.

Additionally, she pinpointed on some of her key’s to her success in the business. She accredited her longevity in the industry (over 10 years) as “Baby Phat” is not just a brand, it is an aspirational lifestyle.”  Kimora also noted she is not an “urban” brand but her fashions include everyone!  It is apparent that her fans feel the same way, as her brand image, “the cat” (inspired by her deceased cat, Max) as the #1 Fashion Brand logo tattoos on people to this day.  That is a remarkable feat for a wife & mother of 3.  As CEO of Baby Phat & Phat Farm, spokes model, TV Reality Goddess, amongst other mogul hats she wears.  All the women and men who attended can attest to the fact everyone loved, admired, and was inspired by the forum.  Ms. Kimora Lee Simmons turned her antagonized childhood because she was “different” into a multi-million dollar brand.  Not only is Baby Phat as a trail blazer along with its sister labels are here to stay and make everyone who wears them feel like they are living “Life in the Fab Lane.”

Cheers,

Leah Richards
