Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld presents Nicolas Pol
While I am by no means an art lover, I can certainly appreciate a good of work of art especially when said work of art is shoe related. That said my idea of fun does not involve attending art galleries but this didn’t stop me from heading to 560 Washington Street for the solo exhibition of Nicolas Pol’s “Sick Avatus of the New Blood,” last Thursday (May 5). The event which was curated Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld – as in Carine Roitfeld son’s (and truly my reason for attending)- featured a collection of paintings, drawings, and a set of new sculptures scattered throughout the cavernous gallery as guests mingled, drank, ate, people watched and attempted to decipher French artist masterpieces.
The works consisting of 20 paints and 16 drawings are “densely and frenetically layer paint with stencils, text, and silkscreens of commercial information, ”said the release. Essentially the pieces are abstract art inspired pieces with splashes of paint embed with funky logos and paints con 20 paints and 16 drawings; very eclectic just like the interesting group who descended the night. Guests in attendance included Carine Roitfeld (and yes I totally looked for her), Nicolas Pol, Carine Roitfeld, Sisley Restoin, Andy Valmorbida, Giovanna Battaglia, Stefano Tonchi, Simon & Michaela de Pury, Stacey Bendet, Kiera Chaplin, Carlos De Souza, Sante D’Orazio, Linda Fargo, Alexandra Keating, Katherine Keating, Stavros Niarchos Jr., Pietro Quaglia, Cindy Greene, Douglas Hannant, Jean Marc Houmard, Lisa de Kooning, Genevieve Jones, Lorenzo Martone, Derek Blasberg, Paul Mathieu, Lauren Remington Platt, Kevin Kollenda, Charles Renfro, Rene Ricard, Vanessa Weiner von Bismarck, Richard Golub, James Willis, Vito Schnabel, Andrej Pejic, Bianca Brandolini, Rachel Chandler, Tom Guinness, Stephen Gan, Kate Schelter and a host of other notable guests.
The party was followed by a private and a rather “intimate” dinner.
