Happy Summer. If you don’t know yesterday was the first official day of summer and the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. To kick-off the official start of Summer, Malibu rum, decided to host a summer soiree at the GORGEOUS Tribeca Rooftop with VIP performances from reggae artist Sean Paul and TFR favorite Estelle.
Mathias Westphal, Malibu Global Brand Director, said in statement “Malibu wants people around the world to be able to take a day off and celebrate that carefree summer feeling – no matter where you are!”
We couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate summer then with this laid back summer celebration. The beautiful weather perfectly complemented the inviting and massive rooftop. The white covered wood seating “stations” that were strategically placed throughout the space reminded me of a fancy beach vacation villa; the Caribbean music that played in the background along with the dancers in skimpy customs only added to the ambiance and festive feel of the party.
Best of all white hats were conveniently scattered throughout the rooftop, so just about every guest was sporting a white hat. To my surprise the white hats were accompanied by matching white sunglasses. So, it wasn’t unusual to spot party-goers lazily lounging around in matching white hats along with sunglasses with their Malibu Cocktails in hand as they waited for the performances to start.
Sean Paul took to the stage first. The “Give Me Light,” singer performed a medley of his hits. Sean, sang and danced and involved the audience. He got the clearly excited crowd (myself included) to boisterously sing along and dance to his performances. His energy was contagious.
Estelle followed Sean Paul’s rousing performance but started by “breaking the rules,” when she mentioned alcohol. Apparently, talking about alcohol at an alcohol party is against the rules. Who knew. However, the “American Boy,” continued with her set. Unlike Sean Paul, Estelle, performed mixture of new songs along with some of classic. Still the crowd, was just enthusiastic in particularly when she performed her signature hit. But, just when we thought the night off was over Sean Paul come on stage and he along with Estelle perform their song “Am still in love with you” together.
