Looking for the perfect boyfriend blazer that’s actually made for a fashionable woman like you but doesn’t brake the bank?  I think, I have a one that you just may like.  This Doki Geki Ruched Sleeve Boyfriend Blazer is currently available at Nordstrom and retails for $48.  Need I say more? I thought so.

Risto Fall/Winter 2010 Collection Overview

When nature calls it speaks volumes, as Risto launches his Fall/Winter 2010 collection. With prints ranging from rainbow hues, eye catching landscapes, and fire intersecting water, you feel yourself become one with nature, but you’re definitely not roughing it.  Always the eco-advocate, this ode to nature brings a 90’s vibe with a techy twist inspired by his muse Nicolas Sassoon. Digital graphics and computer pixels infused with earthy images are Risto’s expression of ‘New New Age.’

Risto seemed to identify most with the late 80’s, early 90’s as that was around the time he finish design school in Paris.  He wanted to capture this nostalgia in this collection by recycling his own decade with new and improved details.  As a former designer for Louis Vuitton men’s knitwear, he continued his love of working with knits by felting boucle yarn and combining strips of leather to create the edgy, grunge inspired collection.  His mastery of taking old-school techniques of knitting and quilting and turning it into today’s show stopping pieces, showcases the distance an open mind can take any fabric of choice, regardless of its intricacies.  He was able to show the details of his knitting techniques through jumpsuits, dresses, capes and leggings.  Some of these pieces were displayed on naked skin of all shades which will no doubt intensify the fascination in his collection.

LOFT’s Alia Ahmed-Yahia Tells Us Her Summer Must Have

The Fabulous Report loves LOFT and we know you do too.  A little over week go (January 26), I  attended a preview for the summer collection at Industria Studio.  As always the collection was superb and classic needless to say, I loved it and so did apparently a lot of bloggers. Many of whom are now being accused of violating FTC rules and of course this left many bloggers up in arms and are accusing Jezebel with poor reporting practices. YIKES.

I  was genuinely pleased with the collection– no bribes for me here.  Though, I did receive a $10 gift card, watch out LOFT here I come– want to join me, in a spending spree?  Going once…Seriously! That said, rather than rave about the collection, I decided to do something different and contacted LOFT Senior Fashion Director Alia Ahmed-Yahia. I asked the fashion director for her take on the absolute must have for the summer from the collection.   You really are going to enjoy what she picked; plus, what’s better than a  “stylist” to help you pick pieces than the director herself?   The selections range in price from  $12.50 for a Raffia pins to $98 for a Sailing Ferns dress (my favorite).  There’s something for every budget.  Sadly, you will have to wait till May for the collection to hit stores so mark your calendars.

Alia’s MUST-Have LOFT Picks for Summer

- Oversized Bag – Summer is the easiest season of the year to pull off oversize printed bags. I’m loving large scale zebra prints for summer. LOFT’s large metallic neutral zebra tote is perfect to wear to work and is large enough to pack it for a quick weekend trip! (Zebra print tote $59.50 )

- A Graphic Printed Dress - I love LOFT’s sailing ferns maxi dress.  It can be worn to the beach or dressed up with some statement jewelry for a night out. (Sailing ferns dress $98)

- Raffia Pins in neutral colors- They instantly add interest to any basic look!  And can be worn in a variety of ways – on a scarf,  a brown braided belt, or even to accessorize a basic sandal.  (Raffia pins – small 12.50, large 14.50)

- Lightweight Anorak in Green – It’s my replacement for the summer cardigan. You can dress it up for a cold office environment by wearing over a floaty dress and adding a hard leather brown belt over the  jacket. (Anorak $79.50)

- Jeweled Metallic Flats- I especially love pairing these with a short for a more casual look.  (Jeweled flats $69.50)

- Jeweled Bib Necklaces.  They provide an instant uplift to an easy summer knit dress. (Jeweled bib necklace $44.50)

CMJ Festival: The Fourth Kind Review

“It started as a sleep disorder study that became the most compelling evidence yet,” the movie announcer states, “of an encounter of the fourth kind.”  Even curious non Sci-Fi fans or anti-UFO conspiracy theorists can not pass up a hook like this.  This movie’s fitting title describes the last and most traumatic stage of human and alien contact, abduction. Since the 60’s, an unsettling and disproportionate number of people have gone missing in Nome, Alaska, a remote town only accessible by plane.  Despite thousands of FBI visits, civilians and authorities alike have trouble explaining why these disappearances are happening and where the missing have gone.

Actress Milla Jovovich, star of The Fourth Kind, plays Dr. Abigail Tyler , a psychologist who documents her patients’ sessions only to find troubling commonalities of alien encounters.  Cursed with knowledge, Dr. Tyler faces many dangers.  Jovovich’s scenes, like many others, are often shown side by side with real footage recorded by Dr. Tyler. The technique creates a powerful effect on the viewer. Reality and Hollywood fiction are partners in crime, both guilty of shaking any doubt in our minds that the universe is bigger than the self or that what we believe is true is as limited as our current knowledge base.

Jovovich and the movie’s director Olatunde Osunsanmi offer a believe-what-you-may, but do not dismiss what you are about to see preamble during opening credits. Osunsanmi, once a crew member for Smokin’ Aces and now a writer on the prequel, Smokin’ Aces 2: Assassins’ Ball (2010), explores alien encounters with an open-mind, a mastery of the modern thriller, and a deep respect for facts and Dr.Tyler’s striking videotaped evidence.

Whether or not you have experienced an encounter of the first kind, a sighting, or the second, an encounter, or the third, contact with extraterrestrials, be assured that The Fourth Kind is not just your ordinary movie about aliens with big heads and bug eyes, random unexplainable crop circles, or Roswell government cover-up stories; it’s a well-paced, mystery thriller for skeptics, believers, and the undecided to enjoy alike.

The movie will hit stores November 6th, 2009.

Cheers,

Alex E.

The Diesel Party is Almost Here and The Bracelets are GONE

10/26/2009 Fashion Find No Comments Posted by Lorna

Did you find “THE BARON?” Well, if you were lucky enough to meet “The Baron”  for the Diesel party then you are in luck because the event gearing to be a good night of fun. Past, Diesel parties include performances by a very pregnant MIA, N.E.R.D.’s Pharrell Williams and Baltimore MC Rye Rye.  The truth is no one knows what to expect in terms of performances but one thing is for certain the event will be good.

“The Baron,” is a Metamorphmagus.  And, he or she took advantage of these special powers to transform into many different people.  For me  “The Baron” was a young blond man but for others “The Baron” was an African American woman and while some where to “weirded” out by experience to accurately describe “The Baron”

Be on the lookout for the party review.
