New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is officially over and now my life can return to some form of normalcy. Most importantly I don’t have to be hungry all the time. Yes during fashion week you have the opportunity to see all the latest designs but you have a lot of it in a short amount of time. So, you are often running around from to show to show and once in a while there’s presentation thrown in there to make your life that much more busy. The running around from place to place takes a toll on you and worse yet you have very little time to eat so often you are hungry. I know you are like I can do that and it does sounds exciting at first but by day five you are ready to pass out.
She by Sheree’s and The clothes shouted Sophistication, Elegance, and Beauty. Some of the pieces were the perfect example of Ready-To-Wear from the board room (blazer on) to the after 5 cocktail party (blazer off) . The perfect example of this was the olive colored silk top with the V-Shaped Back held together by Gold Chains and Winter White pants.
Anna Sui who made Time’s Magazine the very short list to of top fashion icon of the decade has joined other big names such as Rodarte, Isaac Mizrahi, to create a collection to the always cool Target. And the celebrate the collection a lucky few were invited to attend the Pop-up shop in Soho (54 Crosby to exact). The collection which was inspired according to Anna Sui by the cast of Gossip girl. What is up about that show, that is having such an impact on fashion? Granted from what I seen it is a great show.
Ramscale Studios was the hotspot of the weekend if you knew about it. Why you ask? Well, because that’s where all the hot people where as they lounged and sun tanned all thanks to the Carrera the makers of the coolest and most sunglasses. I so want a pair. Anyways, the weather was perfect for such a fete. Guests where treated to a hosts of special services just for showing up.

We are thrilled to offer you a sneak peek at Adam Lippes new collection so you know what look for when looking for this stuff. If you don’t know about Adam you should. He presented his first formal runway show in 2007 for New York’s Fashion week. He also inducted into the CFDA. Lookout for his collection today (Saturday).
A bevy of A-lister sat front row to preview Christian Siriano’s latest collection the 2010 Ready-to-Wear Fall/Winter. Celebrity spotted waiting patiently include Kat Deluna, Veronica Webb, Mena Suvari, DJ Leigh Lezark and Amber Rose but faithful readers may her as Kanye West future ex-wife.
The collection which he described as “very dark, mysterious, and a bit of a ’60s vibe,” was indeed dark–with a strong range of black and grey pieces. For a moment it seemed as the bold & imaginative Christian had left the building and replaced with a tamed version of himself. And, for a moment I was saddened.
He began the collection with his most “ready-to-wear pieces.” Now, while the beginning pieces were pretty they weren’t all exactly thrilling; There was your beautifully draped dresses in wool, cashmere, and satin. You also saw many classic silhouettes and he managed to include some really great deconstructed pieces such as the Grey Chevron Wool Swing Coat. Additionally, he was spot on with some of the trends we are seeing the season, such as the high waisted pants and metallic pieces. His metallic silk chiffon raglan sleeve blouse is stunning. But just when you were ready to give up on seeing the bold Christian that some of become accustomed to, he shows up in the form of his bold fuchsia looks. The crowd and I, were noticeably pleased.
His fuchsia satin faced organza drapped cocktail dress with side loop, is a stunning example of what I love about him. That said like any good entertainer he saved his best for last when Sessilee Lopez walked the runway in his organza drapped bodice and scalloped tulle gown that seriously got a standing ovation from the packed house of fashionistas. And, with that the show ended and my faith in Christian Siriano was restored.
Oh, and the shoes were amazing also part of his payless collection.
Stay tuned for images but in the meantime take a lot at the finale.
The threat of a snow storm did stop the fashionable crowd from making their appearance at The Standard Hotel Poolside to celebrate the premiere of Sundance’s Channel “Catwalk Countdown,” this past Tuesday, February 9th. And, if you love fashion then I urge to watch the show. Its an interesting look at the preparations which take place before a show hits the runway. The Catwalk Countdown follows ten designers– Chris Benz, Christian Cota, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs (Cushnie et Ochs), Erin Fetherston, Lyn Devon, Robert Geller, Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia (Sachin and Babi), Jeff Halmos and Sam Shipley (Shipley & Halmos), Beth Blake and Melissa Akey (Thread Social) and Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai (Vena Cava) –as they prepare to show at New York Fashion Week. The original series includes exclusive videos, photos and behind-the-scenes access documenting their creative visions and working styles.
Fashion Designers + The Standard= Great Party! And one not to miss based on the how crowded the party it was, I wasn’t the only with the same idea. People showed up– there was a crowd of stiletto clad women, fashionistas, along with some of New York’s most fashionables and busy socialites partying at the amazing Standard Hotel. Yes, it does live up all the hype. We had an amazing view of the city despite the weather and being dark, we still were able to enjoy the view. So much so must of us didn’t want to leave but once the bar was closed we knew there was no point in staying. So, made our way out of the party where we were gifted with a snuggie like blanket. I was so thrilled.
In addition to “Catwalk Countdown,” this week the website (http://www.sundancechannel.com/fullfrontalfashion/) premieres Douglas Keeve’s “Dirty Denim,” and will also feature up-to-minute accounts from the Bryant Park Tents. On air programming includes unique fashion-centered documentaries such as “Savile Row” and “The Red Carpet Issue.”
