Vogue Celebrates Express with a Star-Studded Party

Vogue has done the unthinkable and teamed up with the very commercial brand Express, to commemorate Express’ 30th anniversary in fashion. Vogue celebrated the milestone with a swanky affair at Eye Beam studios this past Thursday.

The celebration which was hosted by Chanel Iman, Caroline Trentini, Elettra Weidemann and Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick sans girlfriend Jessica Szhor included fashion show previewing their fall 2010 collection styled by Vogue peeps.   The show demonstrated the many iconic styles from the past three decades, re-interpreted to suit today’s fashionable gal on the go. This collection is unsurprisingly trendy, cute and best of all affordable. Of particular interest is the black cocktail dress with black shinny ruffles.

The presentation was followed by a rousing performance from VV Brown who had the crowd jumping up and down with excitement. The British singer was so full of energy that I couldn’t help to dance to her tune and it seemed she also got to Ed Westwick because he spotted grooving to her tunes.

Other notables attendees include Chanel Iman was caught snuggling with boyfriend, Alex Wek who looked flawless as usual, stylists Robert Verdi and Phillip Bloch. Sadly, no Anna spotting- maybe Express is not fast enough for her?

Arlenis Sosa, Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, and Sessilee Lopez shoot For i-D Magazine

For the biggest issue of the year i-D choose four women of color as their feature models for the special issue.  The models are Arlenis Sosa, Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, and Sessilee Lopez. I am thrilled if you’ve been following these models twitters this won’t come as complete surprise to you as they could barely contain their excitement.  Additionally, if you got your hands on the now famous Italian Vogue issue featuring all black models (that sadly featured mostly non-black models in the ad) these models will come as no surprise to you.  I got all four covers after waking up at the crack of dawn and calling all the coffee shops in New York City on the day of the second delivery until I hit pay dirt.

I am excited to see them on the cover and I am hoping that this season fashion week in New York is more diverse then the last.  I am still disappointed at Miss Sixty lack of diversity on their runway shows.

Men.Style.Com Women of Fashion 2009

In better late than never news. I know, I know this was ages ago.

Anyways, Kanye West teamed up with Men.Style.Com to select 25 women of fashion at the moment. I mean, say what you want about Kanye West but he does know fashion. Plus, have you seen his current girlfriend? If she is not a face of fashion, I don’t know what is. The event held in Palace Gates at The New York Plaza promised a night of fashion and I got to say it was delivered.

Mr. Kanye West – was incredibly kind to all the guest. He walked the room and chatted with just about anyone who wanted to have a word with him. He mingled with the “common folk” rather than spend his time in the VIP section like rest of the VIPs; well the ones that stayed. Rachel Roy walked the Red Carpet and promptly left the building. I am just saying.  Interestingly enough, everyone was commenting on how kind and easy mannered he was. Ok, since I don’t want mess up with his “rep” I will let you know that he was wearing “timbs” at a fashion show.  Timbs.  And, he wanted everyone to know it. So, there. You’re Gay Fish (look it up)..

In addition Kanye West, the hardest working DJ in show business (DJ Cassidy) showed up, along with Charlotte Ronson, Chanel Iman, Dani Evans, Jason Wu and Fonzworth Bentley and all partied the night away. I hoped they enjoyed the delicious food as I did.
