Sobe LifeWater Round Six: Finale

evite_Aug_7th

At 10:01,  my summer Friday’s( as I come to enjoy them) will no longer be the same. I am sad to report that Sobe Summer Fridays have officially come to an end.  I know this write-up has taken me longer than usual to post; that’s because I am in denial but like they say all good things must come to and end and so this too must end.

Anyways, the last event like the others was held at Steven Weiss Studio and the food was catered by La Esquina (I love that corn).  However, unlike the previous events, the finale did not have a particular theme instead the company decided to combine some of their previous activities to create a new experience for guests.  Some new activities like the EA Sports game lounge were added.  Truthfully, I was impressed by the sheer number of activities squeeze into the venue.  On one a corner a game table with huge pictures above it and right next to table was a bike for the onsite photoshoots (remember that party?).  Then, couches where followed by a confessional booth – I stayed away from that.  I do not want to land on youtube again because of confessional booth. I did try to my hand at being a DJ and took lesson from the Scratch Academy (and this was at end).  It turns out that I don’t have what it takes to be a DJ and I sucked.

So, after realizing that I don’t have what it takes to DJ,  I noticed that the crowd starts to gather near the stage.  Using my college education(see it is good sometimes) I realize that a performances is about to start.  I then make my way to stage where Coltrane was announcing Anjulie.   Anjulie is a new artist sign to Starbucks records. Did you know that Starbucks has a record company?   Anyways, sound is different but cool she sang to songs.  An hour later Talib Kweli came on the stage and I was so excited as I love his style.

The place was packed so much so that at five the doors were close to new guests.  FIVE!  So there was a line for all the services and bar was packed (they also ran out of vodka) but all in all the finale was a success.

Also, in attendance Cassie and BJ Coleman and all the great Sobe fans.

Lunar Landing 40th Anniversory Celebration

lv-lunar-landing

I had the pleasure of attending a party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin famous moon landing as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Can you believe that was only forty years ago? Though, I was not around when the mission occurred- it still had an impact in my life. I remember seeing the famous “moon walking” video when I was a young girl and thinking that astronauts where the coolest people on earth.  And, for a second I wanted to be one of them until I realize that you have really like science, see I am not down with science  – just not who I am.  Anyways, I digress – the celebration was held at the Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History and was hosted by Louis Vuitton.

Now, if you are wondering why LV is involved in a party to celebrate the famous Apollo mission. I got the answers for you as  I did some research (I know I have all the answers).  It turns out LV has launched a new campaign “Core Values” which commemorates the 40th anniversary of man’s conquest of the Moon.  As part of the core advertising intuitive LV gathered Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride to a moving pictorial shot by the one and only Annie Leibovits.

Now about the party, guest danced to the tunes of DJ Cassidy (you know I love him) while sipping on Moet Champagne (my favorite) and other signature cocktails and great food.  The event was attending by the pregnant and glowing Victoria Secret Model Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr another VS model and Orlando Bloom current boo. Lance Bass barely was recognizable among the massive crowd but I spotted him.  Inside Edition anchor Deborah Norville and family showed up. My favorite person Estelle also was in the house. See her giving me the peace sign? She is always so lovely to me.  Cassie was also showed up and as did her hair or lack there-off.  Having seen it up close, I still don’t get it. Though, she must know of a good barber because her shaved side was fresh and full of designs.  Jessica Szohr who was how should I put this? Oh, I know: Stank! She is lucky I recognize her and I don’t even watch Gossip Girl.  Moving on, by far the best person at the party in opinion was Marc Jacobs publicists Tim Mark Garcia. Why?  Well, because homeboy proudly displayed his “ankle bracelet” so the police are aware of his whereabouts. Only a real diva can truly pull the ankle bracelet look and Mr. Garcia is a real diva. That’s all I am saying.

Men.Style.Com Women of Fashion 2009

Menstyle_kanye09

In better late than never news. I know, I know this was ages ago.

Anyways, Kanye West teamed up with Men.Style.Com to select 25 women of fashion at the moment. I mean, say what you want about Kanye West but he does know fashion. Plus, have you seen his current girlfriend? If she is not a face of fashion, I don’t know what is. The event held in Palace Gates at The New York Plaza promised a night of fashion and I got to say it was delivered.

Mr. Kanye West – was incredibly kind to all the guest. He walked the room and chatted with just about anyone who wanted to have a word with him. He mingled with the “common folk” rather than spend his time in the VIP section like rest of the VIPs; well the ones that stayed. Rachel Roy walked the Red Carpet and promptly left the building. I am just saying.  Interestingly enough, everyone was commenting on how kind and easy mannered he was. Ok, since I don’t want mess up with his “rep” I will let you know that he was wearing “timbs” at a fashion show.  Timbs.  And, he wanted everyone to know it. So, there. You’re Gay Fish (look it up)..

In addition Kanye West, the hardest working DJ in show business (DJ Cassidy) showed up, along with Charlotte Ronson, Chanel Iman, Dani Evans, Jason Wu and Fonzworth Bentley and all partied the night away. I hoped they enjoyed the delicious food as I did.

Now, is your favorite model in list?

In no particular – the 25 Women of fashion

Alexa Chung, Ana Lerario, Berrin Noorata, Charlotte Ronson, Chloe Sevigny, Chrissie Miller, Danielle Corona, Erika Bearman, Erin Wasson, Eunice Lee, Eugenia Gonzales Ruiz-Olluqui,  Fraces Tulk-Hart, Garance Dore, Harley Viera Newton,  Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Leigh Lezark, Lesley Thompson, Louise Roe, Milla Jovovich,Minnie Mortimer Gaghan, Pamela Love, Poppy de Villeneuve, Rachel Roy, Sophia Hesketh and Umindi Francis.

YRB Hold its Annual World Famous Party and We Take You There.

YRB held its annual party at the newly renamed M2 lounge to much fan fare and excitement from previous year attendees. To say that that this party had a great deal of hype is understatement. Everyone was raving about the amazing time they had the previous year.  The anticipation was so great that many arrived to the party early to discover that the party was starting an hour late.  Of course the disappointment experienced by noticeable angry crowd about the late start was short lived once the doors opened at nine. Everyone made their way to many of the activities scattered through the cavernous M2 lounge.  And, I got to say that the party lived up to all the hype.

As soon as the doors open many of most daring(well crazy to me) party goers made a bee line to the tattoo section. Yes, YRB was anyone on hand an opportunity to obtain a complimentary tattoo. How crazy is that? Who goes to a party to get a tattoo? Apparently, lots of folks are as observed by  the line at that section which was INSANE.  I heard minor scuffles breakout but I for one was not around to see it. I was too busy enjoying the activities.  There were some artists painting in huge canvas in typical graffiti style.  That was actually an interesting addition to the party I can’t believe how focused those artists were. Now, if that wasn’t enough to do it still wasn’t over as there was also a picture booth. I would love to see what those pictures looked like towards the end of the night.  And the most of all where the hot dog cart scattered through the party where people where able to grab their very own hot dogs.

The crowd enjoyed all activities while treated to a special ‘gang’ of rotating celebrity DJ spinning their trademarks tunes throughout the night as promised in the invitation. The DJ’s included Flunkmaster Flesh among others but most notably(at least to me) was DJ Cassidy whom I love and I must say was pleasantly surprised when I saw his trademark white hat on the turn table.

There was an amazing dance performance that seem to start out of nowhere and with no warning that was fun and exciting to watch. That being said the best part of the evening was the performance by Busta Rhymes. Having seem him perform in the past, I know that he can deliver an amazing show and deliver he did. He played some of his most well now songs in the short set such as put your hands where my eyes can see  and his new song of the new album. He along with Spliff Star rocked the house. When he came out the audience was on FIRE and energy in the room was unbelievable, exciting and electric. I was lucky enough to have a great view of the performance thanks to my handy VIP bracelet which made the performance that more enjoyable.  I had so much fun that I didn’t get home till four the morning and was exhausted but such is my life.

If you were lucky to have gotten a white bracelet you would have had opportunity to mingle with rapper Soulja Boy, MTV Veejays Sway and Kudos,  DJ’s Cassidy and many other celebrity in the jam packed section would receive a gift bag included wife beaters, tee shirts, sunglasses, a fun plaid hat, and a key chain. All in all, an amazing time was had. Props to the event organizers for such a fun event  for now I can say I understand the hype. I already can’t till next year.
