Review: Sunday Riley–Good Genes Treatment (Thumbs Up)

As a lady, I am not suppose to tell my age. So, I am told.  That’s okay because this product will definitely aid one in looking youthful.  Now that I am in my 30s, I have been experiencing adult acne.  Can you believe it? It is horrible! I tried everything from natural remedies, department store & drugstore facial products, even seeing an acupuncturist. In the end, I have over processed my face. Dead’s Man Cell Phone Play Review

One of beautiful thing about being a Fabulous New Yorker is, one has so many options at their  finger tips.  One is ability to see plays but Broadway is not the only place to see an entertaining play.  This past week I traveled to one of less traveled boroughs-Queens.  I saw the DEAD MAN’S CELL produced by Outrageous Fortune company at Queens Theatre in The Park. The theater  is an arts center that houses dance, theater, concerts, family events and performances in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

DEAD MAN’S CELL,  it’s a hilarious play- I kid you not.  The play is about a middle age man (Gordon) that dies while craving lobster bisque in a café and his phone keeps ringing.  A fellow patron (Jean) can’t handle the annoying ringing and answers the phone.  Later, this phone begins to provide her comfort, knowing Gordon spirit is still alive through people’s attempts to reach him. Odd right… Well, it is a fictitious story but makes it more the fun.  It is a twisted, light hearted comedy.  As the plot develops Jean makes her way into Gordon’s world & family. Jean makes up final gifts (like it is the last supper) for Gordon’s mother, wife, brother and mistress and discovers Gordon was in the business of selling organs…yes organs.

The actors had great comedic timing. There is a scene where Gordon’s brother Dwight and Jean fall in a seemly juvenile love instantly over dinner.  There are so many funny moments, but I don’t want to give away all the punch lines.  I say go see the show!  Although, the show is a comedy…it does deal with serious issues and thoughts. The play scratches the surface on the complex internal problems in marital and family relationship. It causes the audience to question what true love is. The largest issue addressed is how one person can exchange an organ to create love and life for another human begin (is it right to sell an organ, can both parties benefit equally).

The show closes this weekend.  “A poetic and quirky comedy” It a must see !

The play is produced by Ronald B. Hellman  Directed by Bernard Bosio Stage Manager: Lydia Scotti and the talented cast includes: Denise Foire, Ashley Kuske,Janice Bishop,Leslie Swanson,Ross Pivec & Ben Prayz.
